ECPC Music

Music is an integral part of the ministry and mission of our congregation. We have a rich tradition of congregational singing, and visitors immediately hear how our building’s acoustics were designed especially for song. The result is what one member called “a stirring harmony that seems to resonate somewhere inside your chest, radiating thrills up the backs of neck and arms.”

Most of our worship music is traditional hymnody, but we frequently have special guest musicians from our community and begin with gathering music of folk, gospel, and other acoustic tunes led by Pastor Joe and Jen.

Please also check our calendar for our next Taizé worship service, held monthly on a weeknight evening. Taizé is a popular style of contemplative service that centers on quiet group singing, prayer, and silence.

Our organ was designed by Peter Walker of Brattleboro, Vermont and includes 11 ranks of pipes. There is a Syndyne control with MIDI capability, which allows an organist to record his or her stops and keystrokes which can then be played back through the organ, analogous to old-time player pianos.  This is a very handy feature when none of our organists are available for a service! The singing of the congregation fills the church each week and is much remarked upon by visitors!
