I am thrilled to be among you as Pastor and very much look forward to serving Jesus Christ alongside the wonderful community of faith at East Craftsbury. David and Iboth look forward to settling in to life in the Northeast Kingdom. We are very grateful for all the work on the manse and will seek to be good stewards of this beautiful home. We are eager to get to know members of the congregation even as we give thanks to God for this call to ministry
Parish Associate: The Reverend James MacKellar. Jim celebrates his 60th year of ordination in 2015. He has served churches in New Jersey and New York and was Interim Pastor at ECPC in 1991. He also served as Stated Clerk of Newton (NJ) Presbytery (70-75), Stated Clerk of Northern New England Presbytery (85-91). and Stated Clerk of Synod of the Northeast1975-1996. He led camps and conferences for youth for 20 years and is a Lifelong member of church choirs, community choral groups and formerly the Moderator of Town of Newport, VT. He received his BA from Cornell and Master of Divinity from Princeton Theological Seminary.
Parish Associate: The Reverend Alexander P. Hurt. Alex grew up spending summers here in Craftsbury/Glover with his family. He was ordained in 1969 in Towson, MD. He served as Interim Pastor for several small churches on a part time basis and was stated supply at a church in Franklinville, MD for 20 years before retiring here in 2010. Alex main employment was in the Insurance Industry and served as a member of Trustees of Baltimore Presbytery for many years where his specialty was with churches in conflict. He received his BA from Norwich University and Master of Divinity from Pittsburgh Seminary.
Music Director/Organist : Dr. John Weaver has served as the Director of Music Ministry at the East Craftsbury Presbyterian Church since 2005. He served as Director of Music at Madison Avenue Presbyterian Church in New York City (1970-2005), Head of the Organ Department at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia (1972-2003), and Chair of the Organ Department at The Juilliard School (1987-2004).
John is the former President of the Presbyterian Association of Musicians, a composer of sacred music whose hymns and arrangements are found in the Presbyterian Hymnal, and a choir director currently serving the Northeast Kingdom Chorus. Even though officially retired, John continues to perform as a concert organist throughout the world.
Assistant Organist: Barbara Ulman grew up in New York City playing her family’s piano. She began organ lessons in 1984 with Meredith Baker at St. John’s Church, Cold Spring Harbor, NY and holds a Service Playing Certificate from the American Guild of Organists. In 1996 she moved to Craftsbury with her husband, Neil, and began filling in at the ECPC organ. She was officially named Assistant Organist in 2014.
